My Family

I gather I'm allowed to tell you very little about the people in my life. For instance, the only thing I'm pretty sure I can tell you about my wife is that she values her privacy. I'd love to tell lots more, but the interesting stuff mixes the good with the maybe-not-so-good... I'll try to be brief, and careful...

My wife, Leah

Leah is an artist. She doesn't paint often, but when she does it's a unique piece, unique in materials as well as style. She enjoys crafts and knitting. She's currently working part-time as a (wonderful) preschool teacher at our local synagogue. Many years ago she did PR for high-tech companies and still has great writing skills. An avid reader, she's also a gifted historian but would probably argue for a more modest description. She has a broad knowledge of history and is adept at connecting stories. She has specialized a bit in Jewish history and art.

Son Benjy, age 17

Benjy's doing well in high school- it's hard to believe he'll be done in 5 months! He's a great kid with a collection of about 10 working computers, and many more. He writes a lot, enjoys music- both listening and Guitar Hero, and enjoys making parodies of songs. He plays Runescape (a multi-player on-line game), and keeps abreast of some Gameboy games.

Son Josh, age 14

Josh has in 9th grade. He has an a wonderful cultural and self-awareness and we talk frequently. He's interested in comedy, drama and athletics, has begun a bit of body-building and often invites me to watch TV and movies with him. Josh juggles a little and is also into music and Guitar Hero. He took guitar lessons for a while but has moved on to the drums.

My parents, Bruno & Inge

Dad and Mom sold "our house" a few years ago and now live in a beautiful apartment near Green Lake in Seattle. Dad's 83 and his body is slowing down. He expected his heart to give out a few years ago and then expected not to make it through a bout with a bit of cancer last year. His back makes walking difficult. He gardens, reads, is great at crossword puzzles and has made great progress on his memoirs. For years he has enjoyed the web and email. His passion is for liverwurst, wine and Bushmills, and is usually the life of any party. For information on our lineage, see our website.

Mom's 80 and is doing well. She just started doing email last year, works out at the gym often, swims and walks with friends. She recently finished digitizing family pictures, with help from Michael. I'm not sure what her next project will be, but you can bet she'll have one.

Brother Bob (1 yr older)

Bob's the only one of us that stayed in Seattle. He's an accountant working out of his home, and his wife Cindy is a lawyer for a hospital. Two of their sons have finished college and their youngest son started this last Fall.

Brother Bill (4 yrs younger)

Bill lives with his wife, Deanna, and two girls, ages 11 and 8, in Ithaca, NY. They've slowed down Deanna's naturapathic clinic and Bill's returned to math teaching.

Brother Michael (6 yrs younger)

Michael is east of the mountains, in Winthrop, Washington where his wife Sierra has a naturapathic clinic. Michael ran her office, fixed up their home, then built her a new office and is finishing building two homes. His two boys are almost 5 and 1.
