Lots of Democrats are asserting that Bernie can't defeat Trump.
I don't know. Lots of people think Bernie seems most authentic. And that worries the Republican Party.
Trump's biggest attraction was that he was different- not the usual party hack. Yes, Sanders has been part of Washington DC for decades, but he's also been different.
Plus, Bernie seems to offer real change. He's offering real health insurance, real relief from college debt, and real action on climate change. Biden offers none of these, except in some watered-down forms.
Search for "Can Bernie beat Trump" and there's a mixture of pros and cons- mostly speculation.
Search for "poll bernie vs trump" and most say Sanders wins.
Yes, the polls predicted Hillary, too. But Republicans had been demonizing Hillary for years. Most of them deeply hated her. Many saw problems with Trump, but on balance they disliked Hillary more. Bernie Sanders isn't hated.
Will the Republicans make Bernie's "socialism" ugly? Yes. But they'll do that with every Democratic candidate. They already do.
Biden has his skeletons, too. One of them is that he was Obama's VP. I live in liberal Silicon Valley, between San Francisco and San Jose, California. The two Republicans I've talked to think Trump has some problems, but overall they think he has done better than Obama did. They hated Obama. Why? They're not racist. They hated him because they listened to right-wing news.
I'm working on a way for American voters to directly influence politics all the time. Until we have something like this, the best we can do is look at polls. So far, Bernie can beat Trump.
